Disney+ Clears 100 Million Global Paid Subscribers in Only 16 Months

Milestone comes amid continued international expansion

Disney+ has cleared 100 million paid subscribers just 16 months into its debut, reaching another streaming milestone.

The figure, which CEO Bob Chapek disclosed at today’s annual shareholders meeting, means Disney+ has added just over 5 million subscribers since the beginning of the year. Last month, the company reported that the service had 94.9 million subscribers at the beginning of 2021.

“The enormous success of Disney+—which has now surpassed 100 million subscribers—has inspired us to be even more ambitious, and to significantly increase our investment in the development of high-quality content,” Chapek said in a statement.
