Discovery’s long-in-the-works lifestyle network from home improvement power couple Chip and Joanna Gaines finally has a name and a launch date.
Called Magnolia—also the name of the Gaines’ home and lifestyle brand—the network will premiere on Oct. 4, Discovery president and CEO David Zaslav said today at the Television Critics Association’s winter press tour in Pasadena, Calif.
“We couldn’t be more excited,” Zaslav said. “We think Chip and Joanna represent the values that America is looking for.”
Last year, Discovery said the DIY Network—which debuted in 2010 as an HGTV spinoff—would be rebranded for the Gaines’ network.
