Boss Baby Sequel to Debut on Peacock and in Movie Theaters the Same Day

The film will be available for no extra charge to the platform's premium subscribers

Animated sequel The Boss Baby: Family Business will arrive simultaneously on Peacock streaming and in movie theaters on July 2, making this the first time that the NBCUniversal streaming service will participate in a day-and-date release.

Peacock parent company NBCUniversal said today that the DreamWorks Animation sequel to the 2017 film Boss Baby, which was previously set to arrive in theaters on Sept. 17, will instead be available for no additional charge to Peacock Premium subscribers the same day it opens on theaters in time for the July Fourth weekend.

The move gives NBCUniversal another opportunity to gauge whether moviegoers—especially those with children under 12 who have not been approved for vaccinations—are ready to venture back into movie theaters or whether they’d prefer to watch from home.
