BET announced a multi-year agreement with the creators of its popular series The Game, signing the show’s creators—husband and wife production team Salim and Mara Brock Akil—to a 3-year development contract.

The move comes amidst a much broader rebranding at BET that has led the channel to buy up a raft of new programming, with a renewed focus on scripted series. At April’s upfront, BET unveiled a new comedy starring former Cosby Show actor Malcolm-Jamal Warner, “Reed Between the Lines.”
