Apple TV+ Grows Slate as Service Looks for Its Next Breakout Hit

Buzzy new shows join returning series, while others remain delayed by Covid-19

It’s been a little more than a year since Apple made the unusual decision to debut streaming service Apple TV+ with only original programming, instead of licensing content from other media companies to build out a large library for viewers.

Heading into 2021, Apple is growing its content coffers even more considerably, adding several new prestige dramas and star-studded comedies to build out the service’s 15-month-old collection of programming.    

At the Television Critics Association’s virtual winter press tour, the streamer paneled a broad slate of dramas, comedies and other offerings that reflect the increasingly wide net that Apple TV+ is casting—as it looks to find new breakthrough hits that can help the service continue to grow after a modest start.
