AMC-Owned Streamer UMC Plans January Rebrand to AllBlk

Planned change comes amid broader efforts to strengthen targeted SVOD offerings

UMC, the AMC Networks-owned streaming service focused on Black television and cinema, will rebrand to AllBlk in January as the media company continues to shift to its niche streaming strategy.

UMC, which stands for Urban Movie Channel, will be phased out for AllBlk in the first week of of January, and the rebrand, which also includes a user interface refresh and new “feel,” will accompany the release of several new original series.  

“As our SVOD services continue to develop loyal subscription bases, establishing strong brands that cater to the targeted interests of our viewership is highly imperative,” AMC Networks SVOD president Miguel Penella said in a statement.
