Amazon Prime Video Hires Former Nike Exec as Sports Marketing Lead

Marc Patrick to head up promotions for franchises like Thursday Night Football

Amazon Prime Video is beefing up its sports marketing team as it pushes further into live sports programming like Thursday Night Football.

Marc Patrick, a 20-year veteran of Nike who was most recently svp of marketing at the plant-based meat brand Beyond Meat, is joining the Amazon Prime Video team as global head of sports marketing, Amazon Prime Video and Studios chief marketing officer Ukonwa Ojo said Thursday.

In the role, Patrick will be tasked with developing campaigns for all of Prime Video’s live sports offerings, including working with the NFL as the marketing lead for Thursday Night Football, and helping market sports docuseries and sports-themed programming from Amazon Studios.

Between the lines

The hire comes as Amazon Prime Video increases its live sports footprint as it looks to come up with new ways to entice customers to stay paying Prime subscribers with programming perks.
