Go to the website, click on Ratings Box (the first category), then Last Night’s Results, and Monday, August 30, 2010. ________ -Ratings Breakdown: A night of repeats was still enough for CBS to win this final Monday in August in the overnights, with a 23 percent advantage over second-place ABC. But the race among adults 18-49 could be neck-and-neck between the two. Third overall was NBC, followed by Fox and more repeats on lowly The CW. ABC’s Bachelor Pad opened the evening on a winning note, with a dominant 4.6 rating/8 share in the overnights from 8-9 p.m. But from 9-10 p.m. a 4.6/ 7 was good enough for second (behind encore telecasts of CBS’ Two and a Half Men and The Big Bang Theory). Overall, Bachelor Pad averaged a 4.6/ 7 from 8-10 p.m., with the consistent half-hour breakdown as follows: Bachelor Pad (ABC)8:00 p.m.: 4.7/ 8 (#1)8:30 p.m.: 4.5/ 7 (#1)9:00 p.m.: 4.5/ 7 (#2)9:30 p.m.: 4.7/ 7 (#2) While certainly no blockbuster, results in season one are strong enough to warrant a second season of Big Brother-like Bachelor Pad. Bachelor Pad led into Dating in the Dark, which dipped to a last-place 2.7/ 4 in the overnights at 10 p.m. Comparably, retention out of the 9:30 p.m. portion of Bachelor Pad was only 57 percent. Dominant CBS aired encore telecasts of How I Met Your Mother (#3: 3.7/ 6), Rules of Engagement (#2: 4.0/ 6), Two and a Half Men (#1: 6.4/10), The Big Bang Theory (#1: 6.2/ 9) and CSI: Miami (#1: 4.3/ 7), which is already airing in its new Sunday 10 p.m. time period (and is generating very little interest to-date in repeats). The Big Bang Theory moves to its new Thursday 8 p.m. half-hour with an encore telecast on Sept. 16. And, speaking of Leonard, Sheldon and company, congratulations to Jim Parsons for his well deserved Emmy victory. Elsewhere, a repeat of NBC’s overused America’s Got Talent averaged a 3.5/ 6 in the overnights from 8-10 p.m., leading into a 10 p.m. edition of newsmagazine Dateline at a second-place 3.9/ 7. Former America’s Got Talent judge David Hasselhoff has a new gig: Dancing With the Stars contestant. For more, see TV Tidbits below. Fox aired a repeat of House (#4: 2.8/ 4) and an original installment of drama Lie To Me, which perked up to a third-place 4.0/ 6 at 9 p.m. Comparably, growth for Lie to Me out of the 8:30 p.m. portion of the House encore (2.9/ 4) was a noticeable 38 percent. And The CW closed the night with repeats of 90210 (#5: 0.6/ 1) and Gossip Girl (#5: 0.4/ 1), which just does not have any repeat value. But The 62nd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards on NBC Sunday finished first for the evening with 13.50 million viewers and a 4.1 rating among adults 18-49, according to preliminary time zone-adjusted “fast national” Live Plus Same Day viewing figures. Although this performance is on par with one year earlier (Viewers: 13.47 million; A18-49: 4.2), The Emmys faced The New York Giants vs. Dallas on Sunday Night Football on NBC on Sept. 20, 2009. Moving the ceremony up one week was, no doubt, not beneficial to NBC. -Continued Lackluster Results for The Huckabee Show:Five weeks into its six week test run on seven Fox stations (WNYW/New York, KDFW/Dallas, WFXT/Boston, WAGA/Atlanta, WJBK/Detroit, WTVT/Tampa and KMSP/Minneapolis), Twentieth Television talker The Huckabee Show remains stalled at the gate. Based on the weighted household average from July 26 through August 27, The Huckabee Show is averaging a mere 0.7 rating/3 share (out of a 1.4/ 5 for the lead-in average).
