Abbott Elementary’s breakout year continues, as the ABC freshman sitcom has received five nominations at the Television Critics Association’s 2022 TCA Awards, making it the year’s most-nominated show.
The comedy—created by and starring recent Adweek cover subject Quinta Brunson—wasn’t the only freshman series to receive multiple nominations from the organization. Fellow newbies Severance (Apple TV+) and Yellowjackets (Showtime) each received four nominations (as did AMC’s Better Call Saul), while Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building and Netflix’s Squid Game had three nominations apiece (alongside HBO Max’s Hacks and HBO’s Succession).
