With Its Grocery Business Booming, Instacart Shifts Its Focus to Advertising

Total sales among brands running ads on the platform have increased more than 200%

In 2020, the San Francisco-based company became one of the the nation’s top 10 most-downloaded food and drink apps, according to analytics firm Sensor Tower. Instacart also broadened its reach and now delivers items from 45,000 stores across the U.S. and Canada. And consider this: Enough older shoppers began downloading the grocery delivery app that Instacart decided to create a support line for customers over the age of 60.
