With Ecommerce Boom, Lands' End Thrives as the Apparel Category Struggles

Lands' End was the first apparel maker to sell online in 1995

While some of the apparel industry’s most venerated names including Neiman Marcus, J.Crew and Brooks Brothers have struggled mightily in 2020, Lands’ End doubled its net income in the third quarter to $7.2 million. Sales also boomed during the period, with net revenue up 5.9% to $360 million.

One of the keys to the retailer’s change in fortune was a much-needed refinancing of its debt in early September. An even more important factor in Lands’ End’s success is the growth of its global ecommerce business, which increased 19.6%
