Retailer adds "premium wine varietals" to its offerings

Bottoms up: Walmart’s three-year-old wine label, Winemakers Selection, is expanding with a new collection called Reserve Series.

The latest addition includes what Jason Fremstad, vp of adult beverages at Walmart, described as five “premium wine varietals.” Each bottle has a price tag of $10, marking a steep discount from the market average. According to online wine marketplace Vivino, the average cost of a so-so bottle of red wine is about $16, while a “very good” bottle costs about $32.
