The Marketing Was Strong on Star Wars Day

May the 4th continues its streak as a bona fide retail holiday

Brands hoping to feel the force of a fervent fanbase launched some epic products and promotions in honor of Star Wars Day on May 4: a day when it’s perfectly normal to play The Imperial March as Spotify’s track timer is replaced with a glowing lightsaber while a Homesick Tatooine candle permeates the room.

According to ecommerce platform Pattern, May 4 drives an 11% increase in demand for Star Wars merchandise on Amazon and is responsible for the largest single-day increase in sales outside of the holiday shopping season.
