Target Outlines New Sustainability Goals

The retailer aims to become a net zero enterprise by 2040

Value-oriented department store Target unveiled a new sustainability strategy it calls “Target Forward,” with ambitions to “positively impact both people and the planet.”

The plan, which the retailer said it spent almost two years developing by gathering input from throughout its business, entails both designing and promoting sustainable brands as well as reducing waste and creating more opportunities for minorities.

“As a company and a member of the global community, it’s imperative for the health of both our business and our planet that we embrace new ways to move forward,” said Brian Cornell, Target’s CEO, in a statement.
