Nike brought new meaning to the concept of a sneaker drop with a drone activation that took place in New York and Los Angeles over the weekend.

The sneaker giant selected customers of JD Sports athleticwear stores in the two cites at random to receive a free pair of Nike Air Max shoes, delivered by drone piloted from nearby rooftops. The winners were chosen hourly via the JD Sports app throughout the day on Saturday, which fell on an annual promotional holiday for the product line.
