Magnolia Bakery Rebrands to Expand Ecommerce Business

The franchise joins others in ditching complex branding for a more simple look

Life was different in 2000, when an episode of Sex and the City catapulted Magnolia Bakery into the national consciousness. The iPhone and Instagram didn’t exist. Ecommerce represented around 1% of total U.S. retail sales, according to the Census Bureau.

Now, the iPhone is ubiquitous, a reported 2 billion people scroll through Instagram each month and online purchases account for 12.9% of all U.S. retail. Sex and the City has also gone and come back again.
