Fiverr Rolls Out New Voice Cloning Tool That Lets Actors Offer Automated Samples

The freelance platform is tapping advances in synthetic voice tech

Fiverr is tapping artificial intelligence to let voiceover artists provide samples of their work to prospective clients without ever reading a script.

The freelance platform teamed up with a startup called Lovo to roll out a new tool that allows creators to clone their voices and then use these clones to generate auditions of lines they would otherwise spend time reading themselves. The project uses new advances in machine learning that have made it easier to create synthetic voice clones with smaller amounts of sample data, spawning a cottage industry of startups offering realistic-sounding synthetic voices for everything from audiobooks to podcast translations.
