Exclusive: Walmart's 'Joy. Fully' Campaign Is a Glimpse at Our Connected Commerce Future

Retailers have high hopes for the 2021 holiday season and Walmart, the largest U.S. retailer for more than 30 years, is no exception.

True to its size, Walmart is indeed going big this year with a connected commerce bonanza, including shoppable experiences and facial recognition in an overarching campaign it calls, “Joy. Fully.”

Livestreams—one of the biggest retail trends of 2021—are at the forefront of the effort. Walmart experimented with shoppable livestreams on TikTok last December and earlier this year.

The retailer promises more holiday-specific content to “inspire shoppers” with a series of on- and off-platform shoppable livestreams with various publishers and influencers.

Building on an interactive cooking show the retailer began testing last year, Walmart is also planning to offer shoppable recipes this holiday season in a related campaign called “Taste.
