Amazon-Owned Zoox Expands Self-Driving Car Tests to Rainy Seattle

The move follows similar trials in San Francisco and Las Vegas

Amazon-owned autonomous driving startup Zoox is set to test its mettle on the rainy, hilly streets of Seattle with a new expansion of its self-driving car trials in the Washington city.

Zoox has already been experimenting with fleets in San Francisco and Las Vegas for more than three years, but the company said that Seattle’s particular terrain and climate challenges will afford it a wider range of testing scenarios. The startup also plans to open a satellite office in the city by 2022, bringing its workers closer to its parent company’s home base.
