Affirm Solves Life's Awkward Moments With Buy Now, Pay Later

The service uses humor to highlight when you might need a payment plan

Buy now pay later (BNPL) platform Affirm wants shoppers to say yes to the dress—and the home furnishings and anything else they might need to purchase for major life moments—without worrying about paying the full cost upfront or getting hit with fees later. And it wants them to know it is uniquely situated to help do just that.

That’s the message behind Affirm’s newest campaign, its first with ad agency Venables Bell and Partners, which includes two commercials: “Wedding Dress,” which finds a bride-to-be going to dramatic (and messy) lengths to avoid wearing “something old,” and “Swimming Briefs,” in which new homeowners quickly discover the perils of having rooms with an unobstructed view.
