Marc USA’s string of acquisitions hit a roadblock on the West Coast when its deal with Zuckerman Fernandes & Partners in San Francisco was called off because the two sides could not agree on terms of the takeover.
Pittsburgh-based Marc will look elsewhere for a West Coast presence. Potential purchases are in the San Francisco and Los Angeles markets, said Tony Bucci, Marc’s chairman and chief executive officer.
Bucci and Zuckerman executives announced in August that a tentative deal had been struck, with the shop to have been renamed Zuckerman Fernandes/Marc USA.
Under Bucci, Marc set out on a national acquisition campaign in January 1998, picking up shops in Indianapolis, New York, Chicago, Dallas and Miami.
