NEW YORK — Closely held Ziff Davis Media Inc. suspended operations of Zcast.tv, its streaming-news Web site, citing poor market conditions and uncertainty surrounding the future of streaming video and audio acceptance.

Zcast.tv, which launched in January on a trial basis, broadcast streaming technology news clips over the Web. The site employed seven people, six of whom will be laid off, according to a company spokeswoman.

Editor in chief John Dodge will remain with the company.
