Young Winners

Don’t ask the team of creatives who won the Future Gold competition at last week’s Clio Awards what its secret is. Alan Vladusic, 27, an art director, and Clay Weiner, 29, a copywriter, can’t really tell you how they came up with the winning idea. The duo beat out 10 other under-30 creatives in the contest to come up with a print, Web and outdoor concept for Adobe System’s Creative Suite 2 in a 24-hour period. Their winning entry showed pop-culture events through the toolbar of the Photoshop application: Michael Jackson’s whitening skin was explained by the “layers” tool. “People are always asking us how we came up with the idea,” says Vladusic, who explained that inspiration struck while he sat by the pool at the Ritz- Carlton in Miami Beach, where the Clio Festival was held. “To be honest, I have no idea. If I knew, I would do it again.”
