Wunderman’s Taylor Rises

NEW YORK WPP Group marketing shop Wunderman has promoted Mark Taylor, evp, digital marketing solutions, to the new global position of chief marketing technologist.

The New York-based Taylor, 46, will continue to lead the development of the shop’s technology infrastructure. Now, however, he’ll focus primarily on incorporating marketing tools such as RSS feeds, blogs, wikis and online searches into client campaigns.

As such, the new role is seen as more strategic and central to the operation.

“What matters most is that we see the marketing-technology opportunity through one lens and [that] we take action and that leads to more productive, more profitable and more innovative solutions for our clients,” said Wunderman CEO Daniel Morel, to whom Taylor continues to report.

Initially, Taylor will interact with New York office account leaders and their clients, such as Citibank, Hewlett-Packard and Nationwide. He’ll also contribute to new business pitches. In both cases, Taylor will work closely with New York president Steve Zammarchi.

Taylor has been at Wunderman since February 2001, when he joined as chief technology officer. Before that, he was director of strategic operations at Havas’ Euro RSCG in New York. Other Wunderman clients include Ford, Microsoft and Pfizer.
