WongDoody Scores With Seattle Seahawks

LOS ANGELES The Seattle Seahawks football team has tapped WongDoody to handle media planning and buying, the client and agency said.

Billings are more than $1million. The account will be handled by the shop’s Seattle office. Publicis in the West, Seattle, previously handled media for the National Football League franchise. Creative for the Seahawks is with LevySheckler, an agency that opened more than a year ago in Seattle.

The Seahawks had conversations with several undisclosed Seattle agencies before selecting WongDoody, according to Scott Patrick, client vice president of corporate sales.

“They put a good proposal together,” said Patrick. He added that the Seahawks have worked with WongDoody for the last few years on WongDoody client Alaska Airlines’ sponsorship of the Seahawks. “We were impressed with their handling of professional sports accounts,” he added.

WongDoody’s sports experience includes work for current client the Los Angeles Dodgers, as well as for former accounts like the Seattle SuperSonics, the Miami Heat and Fox Sports Net.

The Seahawks launched a campaign yesterday with new TV spots tagged, “Your seats. Your Hawks. All football.” The ads show “really good straight-up football action” and include marquee players like Shaun Alexander and Koren Robinson, said Patrick.

Radio and print ads will begin airing the week of Aug. 4. Preseason games begin on Aug. 9 at Seahawk Stadium against the San Diego Chargers. The season opener is at home against the New Orleans Saints on Sept. 9.
