Despite stereotypes to the contrary, women in their 30s and 40s are as likely as those in their 20s to have a “disordered” relationship with food. A survey by Self and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill found women across the 25-45 age range equally apt to have food issues.

The study finds many female dieters in this age bracket going to extremes in their weight-loss efforts. Thirty-seven percent said they regularly skip meals, and 26 percent have cut out entire food groups.
