Wisconsin Fires Anti-Smoking Salvos

CHICAGO Wisconsin revealed a new statewide anti-tobacco advertising campaign today that features community leaders and emphasizes the dangers of second-hand smoke, tobacco costs to the state and the importance of quitting.

The campaign from BVK, Milwaukee, is based on unscripted conversations with residents from around the state and is designed to deliver straight talk and tobacco facts, Wisconsin officials said in a statement.

The work premiered at the Eisner Museum of Advertising and Design in Milwaukee, which is featuring an exhibit titled “Up in Smoke.” Organized by the One Club for Art and Copy of New York, the showcase explores the best of both pro- and anti-smoking advertising and the influence on American culture.

The Wisconsin Tobacco Control Board administers the state’s anti-tobacco marketing initiatives, some of which are on display at the exhibit.
