As expected, British telecommunications company Vodafone has hired Wieden + Kennedy for its global creative advertising account.

The account will be serviced from Wieden’s Amsterdam office. Other agencies under consideration included WCRS and McCann-Erickson, both in London.

Wieden was believed to have won the review earlier this year [Adweek, March 26], but the assignment was put on hold after Vodafone failed to settle on an ad budget, sources said.

The agency selection suggests a resolution, but a Wieden spokesperson declined to comment on spending and referred calls to Vodafone, where a representative could not immediately be reached.
