Where the Jobs Are

The market for jobs in advertising, media and marketing was scarcely robust earlier in the year. As it became clear last month that war was coming, though, companies lost what little inclination they had for hiring. The chart below, based on the volume of help-wanted classified ads in Adweek, confirms as much. Even a relatively short war could put fresh staffing on hold for a couple of months. And at that point, it’s nearly summer—which, of course, means any new hiring could easily be deferred until autumn. —Mark Dolliver
