Weber Shandwick Clicks With Electrolux

BOSTON Interpublic Group’s Weber Shandwick has been tapped by Electrolux Icon to provide public relations support for the launch its line of premium kitchen appliances.

The New York-based agency will also handle PR duties for Electrolux’s Frigidaire brand.

“Weber Shandwick brought all of the right elements to the table—very strong culinary experience, a research-based strategy and a ‘big idea’ that we felt really set them apart,” said Mary Kay Kopf, vice president of brand marketing at Electrolux Home Products North America in New York, in a statement.

Weber Shandwick won the business following a review of undisclosed shops. The agency’s New York and Chicago consumer marketing teams will lead the account.

“The combination of the Electrolux Icon work and the Frigidaire assignment will allow us to really tap into a broad spectrum of our expertise—from the higher-end culinary consumer to the mainstream mom,” said Cathy Calhoun, co-president of Weber Shandwick’s consumer marketing practice.

Billings were undisclosed. Last year Electrolux spent $3 million on ads, per Nielsen Monitor-Plus. IPG’s Lowe Worldwide handles advertising for Electrolux Icon and Frigidaire.
