Walgreens, the retail pharmacy division of Walgreens Boots Alliance, inked a deal with global payments provider InComm Payments to offer customers bank accounts at FDIC-insured MetaBank. This includes a Mastercard debit card, which will earn Walgreens Cash rewards on all purchases.

Top line

The new offering, which was announced this week and will be available in the second half of the year, is tied to the customer loyalty program the retailer launched in November. It’s also part of a broader strategy to provide financial products and services.
