Virgin Mobile bows Fallon Ads

Music video director Jonas Akerlund directed and edited Fallon’s first TV campaign for Virgin Mobile USA. The effort, which broke Thursday, touts Virgin’s “pay as you go” offering and, through quick cutting and cartoonlike images, paints other cell-phone providers as untrustworthy. The tagline: “Live without a plan.” The New York shop won the $50 million creative account in April.

Gowl Exits JWT; duties Reassigned

NEW YORK Colleen Gowl, a global business director on the Trident and Halls business at J. Walter Thompson in New York, has left the agency, sources said. Gowl joined JWT in December 2001 to oversee all Pfizer business, including Celebrex, Schick, Trident and Halls. Last spring, most of her brand duties were redistributed to other account executives. JWT is fighting to keep Celebrex in a current review. Gowl’s Trident and Halls duties will go to Peter Grossman, evp, global business director. A JWT rep declined comment. Gowl could not be reached.
