Vignette Names Finalists

DALLAS — Vignette has trimmed its list of contenders to two shops in a review for its estimated $12 million creative and media account, the company confirmed.

WPP Group’s OgilvyOne in New York and Young & Rubicam of San Francisco are still in the running for the Austin, Texas-based content management firm’s business, sources said. Peter Mitchell, Dallas, is leading the review.

Arnold, McLean, Va., and Mullen in Wenham, Mass., were the latest to be eliminated. The company plans to make a final decision next week.

Vignette spent $5 million in 2000, per CMR. No spending was measured in 2001 as the client parted ways with Austin’s SicolaMartin and Leo Burnett USA in Chicago.

Sources said the RFP listed the account at $2 million, but the budget was bumped after the first cut.

“One of the biggest criteria is finding an agency that best conveys Vignette’s integrated services,” said a source close to the situation.”That means finding an agency with experience in the software industry that knows how to focus on IT targets.”
