Unilever’s Klauberg to Step Down

Laura Klauberg, svp, global media at Unilever, is stepping down to pursue other opportunities, the consumer package-goods marketer said today.

Klauberg joined Unilever, one of the world’s largest advertisers, in 1987 when it acquired cosmetics company Chesebrough-Pond, maker of the Pond’s line of skin creams among other products. She was assistant brand manager on the Pond’s and Aziza lines.

She worked her way through the Unilever corporate ranks, rising to vp, marketing shared services, U.S., in 2005.

She was promoted to her current London-based position, overseeing the placement of an estimated $2 billion in ads worldwide, in 2007.  

The company said Klauberg’s departure is effective March 31 and that she will be returning to the U.S.

Klauberg oversaw the company’s recent global media review, which was completed in February 2010. After a seven-month process, WPP Group’s Mindshare was retained to handle the marketer’s U.S., and Western European media duties, while picking up the Canadian assignment.

The company said a replacement for Klauberg “will be named in due course.”
