Will Wiseman, the head of U.S. strategy at Interpublic's UM, is joining PHD in the new role of president of strategic communications.
The hire of Wiseman, who joins PHD on Oct. 15, follows the recruitment of UM's Nathan Brown, who becomes PHD's U.S. CEO on Oct. 1.
At UM, Wiseman's strategy contributions led to the agency's win of the U.S. planning and buying portion of the H.J. Heinz Co. business, which moved to UM and units of Omnicom Media Group last May. OMG's OMD landed responsibilities in the U.K., Russia, Asia Pacific and most of Europe, the Middle East and Africa while PHD took on France, Italy and the Nordic countries.
During Wiseman's seven years at UM, he also helped grow client business on MasterCard and ExxonMobil as well as contribute to new-business wins like Chrysler.
Wiseman started his career in PricewaterhouseCoopers' consumer products consultancy before moving to what was then Zentropy Partners for three years as a digital marketing strategist. (Zentropy was acquired by Interpublic and merged into other of the company's web operations.) He then spent five years at Ogilvy as worldwide group director, marketing strategy, focused on the American Express OPEN account.
