Joe Torre and Bobby Valentine are meeting again—this time, in a new TransitCenter campaign for the launch of the annual Premium TransitChek MetroCard.

The effort, by Gillespie in Princeton, N.J., breaks today and includes a print ad that features New York Yankees manager Torre and New York Mets skipper Valentine.

The ad shows the duo—whose teams met in the 2000 World Series—holding Pre mium TransitChek Met ro Cards. “Because we New Yorkers deserve the best,” reads the copy.

The ad explains how the card—which may be used to receive unlim ited rides throughout the year on New York City Transit subways and local buses—may provide savings for employers and employees. The card “is designed for employees of mid-to-large-size companies that sign up for the Premium Transit Chek program,” notes the ad.

“Our idea … was to say no matter who you root for, everybody can use the Premium TransitChek Met roCard,” said Stephanie Will, account director on TransitCenter at Gillespie.

The ad is running in The New York Times and the New York Daily News. The effort also includes radio.
