Ad-tech veteran Matt Goldberg is stepping into a new role as Tripadvisor’s chief executive officer. He’ll be charged with plotting a new itinerary for the travel brand’s future.

Goldberg’s last stop was The Trade Desk, where he served as evp of North America and global operations.

He comes to Tripadvisor after a lengthy career that’s taken him to News Corp, Liberty Interactive, Dow Jones and travel-focused Lonely Planet. The founding director of Dataphilanthropy, a nonprofit built to combat economic disparity, Goldberg fills the role formerly occupied by Steve Kaufer, who co-founded Tripadvisor with CarGurus creator Langley Steinert in 2000.

“I could not be more enthusiastic about joining Tripadvisor, a company I have long admired,” Goldberg said in a statement.
