Travelocity Contacts Search Consultants

DALLAS Travelocity is talking to consultants about its estimated $30 million ad account, sources said.

A client representative denied discussions with consultants are taking place and said the client is working with the incumbents on ads set to break in the fourth quarter.

Independent The Richards Group in Dallas and its interactive affiliate Click Here have handled Travelocity work for the past four years.

Richards has not broken work for the client since May 2002. That campaign included a spot that showed people renting an elephant with the help of the company’s online tools.

The Fort Worth, Texas-based online travel company does not currently have a senior vice president of marketing. Scott Danielson left that post in May after only a month on the job.

A few weeks before Danielson’s arrival, the company’s director of advertising and promotions, Jason Pruismann, resigned. Vice president of marketing services Susan McLaughlin, who is based in San Francisco, has taken over that position.
