Adidas’ head of global sports marketing, James Gatto, has been found guilty of fraud by a federal jury in Manhattan following an investigation by the U.S. Department of Justice into the company’s alleged practice of making payments to high school basketball players and their families to encourage the players to attend schools where Adidas is a sponsor, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal.

Gatto was found guilty on three counts: wire fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud with regard to the University of Louisville, along with wire fraud with regard to the University of Kansas.
