Tom Kelly Writes Off Mullen

Former Copywriter Joins Clarke Goward
BOSTON–Tom Kelly has left his post as a copywriter at Mullen to serve as associate creative director at Clarke Goward.
He replaces Chris DeCarlo, who departed Clarke Goward earlier this year for a senior copywriter position at Hill, Holliday. Connors Cosmopulos in Boston.
“It was just a good opportunity,” said Kelly, of his decision to join Clarke Goward. “They’ve always had a reputation for being very strong creatively.”
As Clarke Goward’s only associate creative director, Kelly will work on all the Boston agency’s accounts, including Tealuxe, NStar and Papa Gino’s. He oversees six art directors, designers and copywriters, reporting to creative director Jim Amadeo. “He had one of the better books that I’d seen, and I knew that he had a lot of potential” that may have been overlooked at a large agency like Mullen, said Amadeo.
At Mullen, Wenham, Mass., Kelly’s accounts included The Stanley Works and Dexter Shoes.
Clarke Goward’s search for an executive vice president and director of account services continues following the departure in May of Mike Norton for a post as director of interactive and internal communication at Gillette.
