TogetherSoft Taps Howard, Merrell & Partners

TogetherSoft has designated Howard, Merrell & Partners its lead agency.

The Raleigh, N.C., tech advertising specialist won the estimated $3 million business after a review that included an undisclosed number of agencies.

Chris Cheek, di-rector of marketing for the software supplier, said HM&P triumphed on the strength of its strategic approach as well as its account planning and research capabilities.

“We were pleased with the creative presented to us—examples of their work for other high-tech clients,” Cheek added.

Account planning and research are under way. A print, television, interactive and direct mail campaign, targeting senior corporate managers and in-formation technology professionals, will begin later this year.

“[The client] appreciates the importance of branding in building a company that will endure and prosper,” said HM&P chief executive officer Mac Merrell.

TogetherSoft markets Control Center, which creates a virtual environment for program developers, allowing them to automatically document, define and update their progress in a collaborative venue.

The privately held company, led by chief executive officer Peter Coad, has grown dramatically since its inception in 1999. Third-quarter 2000 sales, for example, increased 50 percent.

The Raleigh firm’s current clients include AT&T, Bank of America and Nortel Networks.

TogetherSoft plans to market software applications that will impact beyond information technology departments.

“The challenge is to allow people to create a whole new work environment,” said Scott Crawford, HM&P’s executive creative director. “A lot of people are working on projects that require managing multiple pieces of software to do the job. If you can connect all those pieces, imagine the benefits.”
