A Tip Of The Hat To Leinenkugel

An empty beer carton does not make the most fashionable of hats, except in the minds of frat boys who have emptied a few too many.
But folks at Miller Brewing’s Leinenkugel Brewing Co. in Chippewa Falls, Wis., believe they can make the beer carton hat more acceptable. This fall, Leinenkugel’s Honey Weiss beer is being sold in a special, triangular 15-pack. That’s a wedge. As in cheese. As in cheesehead, with a convenient cutout to insert one’s skull.
Leinenkugel’s “Fan Pack” will be sold in some Illinois and Minnesota markets, but it’s the Badger State–home of Packers fans’ infamous “cheesehead” chapeaus–where three-sided toques are most popular. Indeed, Wisconsin residents figure to see the Leinenkugel hat as a fanciful way to ward off autumn’s chill while proclaiming allegiance to the home state.
Of course, after 15 beers almost anyone might give it a try, should a lampshade not be readily available.
