BOSTON–Timberland has reduced to four the number of agencies competing for the creative portion of its $15-20 million advertising account.

Black Rocket/Euro RSCG in San Francisco, Carmichael Lynch, Minneapolis and New York shops Fallon and J. Walter Thompson were named finalists, said Timberland spokeswoman Robin Matchett.

The shops will make final presentations to client executives during the second week of August, with a decision expected shortly thereafter.

DDB, Saatchi & Saatchi, and Young & Rubicam, all in New York, did not advance.
