Timberland Awards Winsper

BOSTON Winsper said it has been selected by Timberland following a review to create advertising for the company’s Timberland Pro footwear brand, which targets workers in the construction, agriculture, manufacturing and transportation fields.

Winsper, a 20-person independent agency in Chestnut Hill, Mass., will handle media advertising, as well as point-of-sale, package design and product naming chores. New work is set to debut in the spring and fall.

“We reviewed a number of top agencies, and Winsper grabbed our attention with their ideas and experience. Their creative ideas were on point and we feel they will successfully position us as the market leader in the industrial work boot category,” said Jim O’Conner, director of marketing at the client in Stratham, N.H.

Billings were not disclosed, nor were the other contenders in the review. The client is expected to spend at least $2 million advertising the footwear brand this year.

Havas-owned Arnold in Boston won Timberland’s estimated $12-15 million national image account two years ago. Ads have been tagged “Make it better.” Arnold was not involved in the Timberland Pro review and does not lose any business as a result of Winsper’s win.

Winsper has crafted efforts for brands such as Bombardier Flexjet, Siemens Business Services, Hawker Jets, Young’s Brewery, UBS, Raytheon Aircraft (Beechcraft Jets) and Moonrock Paper.
