Mary Stengel Austen has been appointed Tierney Communications’ first female CEO since the agency was founded in 1942. Scott Franks, formerly CEO of the Philadelphia shop, has assumed the role of chairman. Austen has added the CEO title to that of president, a post she has held since 2002. She now is responsible for day-to-day operations, while Franks concentrates on client strategy. Tierney’s management leadership is rounded out by Debbie Griffin, CFO; Kelly Simmons, chief creative officer, and Steve Albertini, general manager of the public relations division.
