Team One Enlists New CEO

LOS ANGELES Jack Mickle will replace Brian Sheehan as CEO of Lexus lead shop Team One in March, the Publicis Groupe-owned agency said today.

Mickle, now the CEO of Team One sister shop Saatchi & Saatchi Japan, will report to Saatchi & Saatchi Los Angeles CEO Kurt Ritter, whose role has been expanded to include all West Coast operations.

Lexus spent more than $270 million last year on ads, per Nielsen Monitior-Plus.

Mickle started at Saatchi in 1989, moved to Ace Saatchi & Saatchi in the Philippines in 1994. He remained in Asia in various capacities before moving back to the U.S. in 2000 to become svp of independent McKinney & Silver in Raleigh, N.C.

In 2002, Mickle returned to Saatchi as managing director of Japanese operations, coordinating 30 worldwide offices of the agency handling Toyota and Lexus. Mickle has also been a regional account director for Lexus in China and a Saatchi board member in Korea.

Sheehan’s departure is voluntary. He has accepted a teaching position at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University while he earns a doctorate degree in history.

Sheehan, who started in advertising in 1983 at Dancer Fitzgerald Sample, New York, before it became part of Saatchi & Saatchi in 1986, is a former CEO of Saatchi & Saatchi Japan. He became CEO of Team One, El Segundo, Calif., in 1999.

In addition to Lexus, Team One advertises Ritz-Carlton, Bombardier’s Flexjet, Whole Foods and Procter & Gamble’s Millstone Coffee, among other brands.
