Team One Anoints 3

Team One said it has put its next generation of leadership in place with the naming of three female directors.

Julie Liss joined the El Segundo, Calif., agency as director of strategic planning. Julie Michael was promoted to director of marketing and business development. And Anne-Marie Schaffer was promoted to director of communications.

All three report to Brian Sheehan, co-chairman and CEO.

“These are three major management changes, and there are three very strong women moving into [the positions],” said Sheehan. “These are clearly three future—and current—leaders of the agency.”

Liss, 36, had been svp, director of planning at Rubin Postaer and Associates in Santa Monica, Calif., where she founded RPA’s Brand Biography Group, a brand consultancy.

She replaces Adrian Barrow as head of Team One’s five-person planning department. She will oversee brand and strategic development for all clients and also launch a brand consultancy practice to “help solve stra tegic business issues, beyond strategic advertising,” said Liss. A launch date has not been set.

Michael, 35, assumes new-business duties from management director Richard Turner, who is now focusing on specific client assignments, said Sheehan. A five-year Team One vet, Michael was previously co-director of event marketing and promotions.

Schaffer, 36, will oversee all media planning teams. She replaces Bonnie Chan, who has moved on to Saatchi & Saatchi in Torrance, Calif. Schaffer has been with Team One for about 18 months. She had been group communications director, overseeing media planning for Lexus dealers.
