TBWA\C\D’s Hackworthy Heads to DDB

NEW YORK David Hackworthy, director of strategy at Omnicom Group’s TBWA\Chiat\Day in New York, is leaving to take a top brand planning job at sister shop DDB in London, where his title will be chief strategic officer.

DDB said his position at the shop is a new one. Lucy Jameson, director of account planning, continues in that role. Hackworthy will join the shop on Sept. 6.

Hackworthy, who spent five years at the New York office of TBWA\C\D, resigned on Friday. During his tenure, he focused on new business development and helped land accounts such as Nextel in 2003, Kmart in 2000 and Circuit City in 1999.

DDB’s London office will now work more closely with sister shop WWAV Rapp Collins, with Jon Goulding, client services director at the latter agency, moving to DDB next month as director of relationship marketing. DDB also has signed up Goodstuff, a planning consultancy, to help the agency find the best way to integrate communications strategy into all operations.
