TBWA\C\D in N.Y. Ups Gallo to President

NEW YORK TBWA\Chiat\Day has promoted New York managing director Jamie Gallo to president of the office.

Gallo, who’s also worldwide managing director on the agency’s global Absolut business, will continue to work closely with New York chairman and chief creative officer Mark Figliulo. The duo represents the business and creative chiefs of the office, whose top clients include Mars (Snickers, Skittles, Starburst, Combos), Absolut, Beiersdorf (Nivea) and Michelin.

“Clients demand that their agency leaders have an understanding of every aspect of their business, and Jamie does,” said TBWA worldwide CEO Tom Carroll, in a statement. “He knows how to navigate brand ideas through every touch point — from digital to retail to internal employee and franchisee relations.”

As president, Gallo will oversee TBWA\C\D and the New York operations of two subsidiaries: Tequila and TBWA\WorldHealth. Collectively, the three units employ about 225 staffers. His focus will be on client management and new business development.

Gallo, 42, had been managing director since June 2007. The shop’s last president was Corey Mitchell, who left last summer to become managing director of the New York office of Interpublic Group’s MRM Worldwide.

Gallo joined Omnicom Group’s TBWA\C\D from sister shop Brand Architecture International in 2002. At BAI, he worked on the shop’s Pernod Ricard business.

Earlier in his career, Gallo was an account director at Omnicom’s Merkley + Partners in New York, where he handled BMW Motorcycles and Fila. He also worked on Evian and Dunkin’ Donuts at Messner Vetere Berger McNamee Schmetterer/Euro RSCG in New York.
