Via Taps Greg Davis to Lead Growth Efforts

BOSTON Seeking to add some new-business firepower in a brutal economy, Via has tapped Greg Davis as chief growth officer. That’s a new post at the 70-person shop based in Portland, Maine.
Davis’ 20-year Madison Avenue pedigree includes tenures at numerous shops, including The Kaplan Thaler Group, his most recent employer, where he served as managing director of business development. He has also worked at Nitro, Berlin Cameron and Hill, Holliday. In each case, he was involved in new-business activities.
A Via rep said: “This significant addition to the agency marks our commitment to growth even in the face of these challenging economic times.”
Davis noted that big New York players don’t necessarily have all the answers for today’s clients, and said smaller, more nimble shops like Via could fill the void.
The agency, long one of New England’s larger independents, is coming off a year that saw the shop grow its revenue 5 percent to approximately $15 million.
Its most high-profile win in ’08 was probably Welch’s, which the agency won in May following a review. The client spends $20 million annually on ads.
Other key assignments include Colonial Life, Dunkin’ Donuts and HP Hood. Via offers a mix of online and offline capabilities.
